Government Polytechnic Jammu Organized Debate Competition
Government Polytechnic College Jammu organized a debate competition in the college campus today on topic “Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in the present time”. The function began with paying homage to the Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi ji. The Chief Guest of the function was Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the college who while speaking on the occasion narrated the various facets of Mahatma Gandhi and impressed upon the students to adopt the philosophy advocated by Gandhi ji in their day to day life. In the debate completion fifteen students of various departments participated and threw light on the life and contribution of Mahatma Gandhi. The speakers threw light on Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution towards bringing peace and non-violence to this world.
The speakers expressed their views and most of them advocated that non-violence is the only solution to the various issues our country is facing today. Ms Rizwana of 1st semester, Civil Engg was declared 1st while 2nd prize was won by Miss Vaishali of 1st semester, Computer Engg and third prize was won by Miss Ayushi of 3rd Semester Electrical Engg. Er. K.S Bhatia HOD Mechanical Engineering and Er. Atul Sudan Demonstrator Automobile Engg. also spoke on the occasion and inspired the students to follow the path of Non- Violence and truth. Er. Sanam Gupta, Leturer, Mechanical Engg was the co-ordinator of the programme. The judges for the debate competition were Ar. Ritika Wadhera HOD (Architecture), Er. Sakshi Kapahi, Lecturer Instumentation and Er. Atul Sudan, Demonstrator Automobile Engg of the college. Other present on the occasion were Er. Inderjeet Singh (Workshop Supdt), Er. Sanjay Gupta (HOD Electrical Engg), Er. Mohd. Shabir,,Er. Dheeraj Kumar, Er. Amit Sharma, Er. Shorab Gupta. The function was attended by large gathering of teaching, non teaching staff and students of the college.
