Persons with Disability Scheme (PWD Scheme)

1. In accordance with “National Policy on Education-1986” and “The Persons With Disabilities Act-1995”, the Ministry of HRD Government of India Envisaged a Centrally Sponsored Scheme to integrate the Persons With Disabilities in the Main Stream of Technical and Vocational Education Known as PWDs (Persons With Disabilities)
2. The Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) are those who are unable to ensure wholly or partly, the necessities of normal individual as a result of deficiency in their Physical and mental capabilities.
3. Through this scheme this Institute trains 25 students through Diploma Programmes in Engineering and 100 Persons to be trained through Vocational / Skill development Programmes.
4. This scheme is facilitated by a network of NITTTR Chandigarh resources Institute of rehabilitation of Persons with Disability and NGO’s. Being a noble activity requiring self devotion and commitment, this polytechnic is involved for training / implementation of Scheme and being monitored by NITTTR Chandigarh.
5. Through this scheme the students with disabilities are encouraged through provision like scholarship Transport facilities or alternative financial incentives, supply of Books / Educational Material, Uniforms, free boarding and lodging etc.

Faculty and staff is specially trained to Offer effective training. Resource persons and master craftsmen are appointed part time or full time who contribute effectively to varions activities for impleting the scheme successfully
