As a tribute to one of the first and finest engineers of India Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu Celebrated Engineers Day in the college. On this occasion Inter Polytechnic Debate Competition MANTHAN -2018 was held. Ms Anoo Malhotra (KAS) Director Technical Education, J&K graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The function started with lightening of lamp followed by paying homage to The Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. While speaking on the occasion she highlighted the contributions of Sir. M.K to the society and appreciated the role of Engineers in Nation Building. She also congratulated the Principal, staff and all the students on receiving the Outstanding Polytechnic award at NITTTR Chandigarh on 7th Sept 2018. Er Arun Bangotra Principal of the college presented the welcome address and motivated the students to work hard and use their Engineering intelligence, knowledge and skill for the welfare of the nation, society and humanity. In the Debate competition Twenty eight students participated from Government Polytechnic Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Reasi, Women Polytechnic and NITS Polytechnic. The topic for the debate was “Skill based Education is the Key to Success”.

The First prize was won by Ms. Rizwana Hamid from Govt. Polytechnic, Jammu, while second prize was shared by Mr. Joy Abhishek Nawab from NITS Polytechnic and Ms Mehvish from Government Polytechnic Jammu and third prize was also shared by Mr. Pardeep Sharma from Govt. Polytechnic, Kathua and Mr. Raman Sharma from Govt. Polytechnic Udhampur in very tough competition. Government Polytechnic Jammu Bagged the overall Trophy of Debate Competition MANTHAN 2018. The judges for the Debate Competition were Er. Sanjay Gupta, Mr. Amit Sharma and Ar. Ritika Wadhera, HODs of the college. On this occasion the Chief Guest also facilitated the three Engineers of the college for their outstanding contribution in the college in field of Engineering. The award of Excellence was received by Mr Arun Sharma, Workshop Instructor, Mr Shakti Kumar, RAC Instructor and Mr Ramesh Chander Salaria, Instructor Electrician of the college. The event was coordinated by Er Jasdeep Kour, Lecturer. The event was concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Er Atul Sudan. Er Ajay Thapa and Er Sanam Gupta made all the arrangements for smooth conduct of function. Other who was present on the occasion was Er H.A Bhardwaj, Principal Govt. Polytechnic Udhampur, Vinod Azad, Principal Govt. Polytechnic Poonch, Er. Inderjeet Singh Workshop Superintendent, HODs of various department and other staff and students of the various Polytechnics of Jammu Division.
