Badminton Tournament Organized by Government Polytechnic Jammu

The Sports wing of Govt. Polytechnic Jammu organized the annual Inter-department badminton tournament 2025 in the badminton court of the institution. The tournament was inaugurated by the worthy Principal Er. Talet Mahmood on 24th October, 2025 in which intra-department competitions were held in all the ten engineering and non- engineering branches of Govt. Polytechnic Jammu which were completed on 29th October, 2025.

In the second stage, the inter-department competitions were held in men and women categories in singles on 30th and 31st October, 2025 in which worthy Principal Er. Talet Mahmood and Sh. Inderjeet Workshop Superintendent was guest of honor. Principal while speaking on the occasion exhort upon all the students to take part in games and sports to have a holistic development. He also stressed on the students to decrease the screen time, which is adversely affecting the young generation. He congratulated the winners and runners up of trophies and motivated all the players.

In the final of women’s singles Ira Sharma of Computer Engineering department outplayed the Uzma Ganai of Medical Lab Technology department 2-1 in close contest.

In men’s singles semi final stage Raghuvandan Saini of Mechanical Engineering Department beat Binder Pal Singh of Information Technology department 2-0. In the final of men’s singles it was a close contest in the both finalist were equally good and there were long rally of shots attracting the audience with mesmerizing volley shots however in the end Raghuvandan Saini of Mechanical Engineering Department was declared winner of the tournament (2-1) whereas Keshvem Sharma of Civil Engineering Department remained runner up . The matches ere officiated by panel of experts Sh. Amit Sharma, Smt. Harjot Kour and Shifali. Sh. Amit Sharma Sports Secretary presented the note of thanks on the occasion and congratulated the winners and runner up of the tournament HODs present on the occasion Smt. Rani Devi (MLT), Sh. Sanjay Koul (Computer), Sh. Sukhdeep Singh (Civil), Sh. Sanjay Gupta (Electrical), Sh. Raj Shekhar (Automobile), Sh. Raj Kumar (Mechanical).
