Government Polytechnic Jammu has started the online classes for Polytechnic students in all the Engineering stream due to the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir in view of Corona Virus threat. As per the initiative taken by the college Principal Er Arun Bangotra, according to him “The classrooms can halt but the Education can’t”, all the HODs and teaching faculty has created the Google classroom in all the subjects of Engineering for the students and Whatsup group which are monitored daily by the Principal and HODs. In last one week all the students of the college have joined the classes. Through the various Whatsup group created by the HODs, all the students were informed to download the Google Classroom app from playstore and create the account by an email, click on + symbol and join the class by entering the subject/class code provided by the subject Faculty.
According to Er Bangotra, this step is taken so that studies of the students doesn’t suffer due to lockdown of the college as per current situation. The students are provided all the study material, notes, handouts, ppts, video lectures and assignments online on Whatsup group, Google Classrooms and through Emails. The Principal has also offered all the Polytechnic students of the Jammu and Kashmir to take the benefit of these Google Classroom by sharing their contact details on college official Email id/Facebook/Instagram page. All the students are further advised to take the benefit by registering on Swayam portal for various Engineering online courses and National Education Alliance for Technology (NEAT) an initiative of AICTE for enhancing the employability skills of students by collaborating with various Education Technology Companies free of cost.
