7th Faizal Abbas Memorial Volley Ball Tournament concluded at Government Polytechnic Jammu

The 7th Fazil Abbas Memorial Volleyball Inter Department Tournament concluded today in the Govt. Polytechnic College, Bikram Chowk, Jammu which was earlier inaugurated by the worthy Principal of the institute on 07.10.2025 Principal Er. Talet Mahmood was Chief Guest in the Final match of the Tournament who was warmly welcomed by the organizing committee. The tournament is held every year in the memory of an Ex. student Late Fazil Abbas who lost his life in an unfortunate accident and he was a very good player of Volleyball besides being good in studies.

In the first Semi-final of the tournament, the Computer Engineering Department trounced by the electrical department team 2-1 in a hotly contested match 25-21, 23-25, 15-12. Ramnik Singh 5th Semester of Electrical Department displayed a good show of skills inspiking.

In the second semi-final Mechanical Engineering Department gave a good fight to the Automobile team and won 2-1 with 25-21, 23-25 and 15-10. In the final match Electrical engineering Department beat the Mechanical Engineering Department in a very close contest.

The audience was spellbound by the long rallies of smashes and blocks by the players and the matches were officiated under technical official Shri Naresh Sharma, A national level volleyball referee along with Sh Chamel Singh PEM, Smt Harjot kour and Toshi Devi, PET.

After the match, prize distribution function was organized in which Chief Guest Er. Talet Mahmood applauded the students for taking part in Games & Sports which he said will instill new spark in their daily routine and will rejuvenate them with fresh zell and vigor. He also hailed the efforts of the sports wing of Govt. Polytechnic for organizing such sports events and engaging the students in various sports activities. Er. Talet Mahmood congratulated the winning team and Shri Sanjay Gupta (HoD of the department) for winning the trophy. He also congratulated Shri Raj Kumar HoD Mechanical Engineering for winning the Runner Up trophy.

He motivated all the other teams to work hard next time to clinch the trophy. Others who were present on the occasion includes: Er. Vicky Sharma (A/A), Sports Secretary, Sh Amit Kumar Sharma Incharge HoD Travel & Tourism presented the vote of thanks for chief guest and all the audience present.
